加拿大石油公司简介

加拿大政府在1975年成立的Petro-Canada公司是加拿大最大的燃油和燃气公司,其拥有超过60亿加元(300多亿人民币)的固定资产。当时成立的目的是为降低美国公司在加拿大石油工业的统治地位。Petro-Canada在成立之初从加拿大政府手中接受了大量的油气资源,不过后来评论家们指责Petro-Canada在配置这些资源时的低效以及干涉私人公司的业务。1991年,加拿大政府开始对Petro-Canada进行私有化改革,2004年底,加拿大政府出售了其在该公司中剩余20%的股权。

加拿大国营石油公司主要分两个产业

1、上游产业:主要负责原油探测、开采及销售原油、天然气及液化天然气;

2、下游产业:主要负责原油炼制和销售其石油产品

加拿大国营石油公司润滑油部生产350多种各种包装的润滑油品,包括:汽车用、工业用、特殊用等油品及润滑脂,其销售遍布欧美等地六十多个国家。其获得ISO09001、QS9000等认证,保证质量得可靠性。

Petro-CanadawasfoundeDASaCrownCorporationin1975byanaCTOfParliament.MostoftheoriginalPetro-CanadastationswereBritishPetroleumCanada(BPCanada)dealers,andBPDISAPpearedfromtheretailsceneinCanadasoonafter.Later,Petro-CanadaacquireDTheCanadianretailstationsofGulfaNDFina.

Canada'slargeoilreserveshADLongbeenunderthecontrolofAmericancorporationswhogeareDMostoftheirPRoductiontowardstheAmericanmarket,andsenttheirprofitssouth.Aftertheoilshockof1973oilpricesquADRupled,butlittleofthebenefitwasgoingTOCanadians.Themotiontocreateapublicly-runoilcompanywasintroducedbytheNewDemocraticPartyin1973,PrIMeMinistERPierreTrudeau'sLiberalsweretheninaminoritygovernmentanddependentuponthesupportoftheNDPTostayinpower.TheideaalsofitwithTrudeau'seconomicnationalISM.

Thecompanywasgiven$1.5BIllioninstart-uPMoneyandeasyaccesstonewsourcesofCAPItal.ItwassetupinCalgary,despitethehostilityofthatCITy'spopulationandexistingoilfirms.ItsfirstpresidentwasLiberaloperativeMAUriceStrong.ThegovernmentmaintainedclosercontrolsoverPetro-CanaDAThanwasusualforaCrownCorporationsotheycoulduseitasapolicytool.TheProgressiveConservativEPArty,ledbyAlbertanJoeClark,wasanopponentofthecompany,andadvocatedbreakingitupandsellingit.TheTorieswereunabletoproceedwiththeseplansduringtheirbrieftimeinpowerin1979-1980,however.

ThecompanybecamepopularoutsideAlbertaaSASyMboloFCAnadiannationalism.ThefederalgovernmentandPetro-Canadatriedtore-inforcethISPopularitynationwide(butespeCIAllyinCalgary)throughitsprominentsponsorshIPOftheCITy'ssuccessful1988WinterOlympicsbid.ItquicklygrewtobeoneofthelargestplayersinthetraditionaloilfieldsofthewestaswellasinthetarsandsandtheEastcoastoffshoreoilfields.

WhentheLiberalsreturnedtopowerin1980,energypolicywasanimportantfocus,andthesweepiNGNationalEnergyProgramwascreated.ThisexpandEDPetro-Canada,butitwasdetrimentaltoAlberta'seconomy.ThegovernmentofPrimeMinisterBrianMulroney(1984-1993)stoppedusingPetro-Canadaasapolicytool,anditbegantocompetefullyandsuccessfullywiththeprivatesectorcompanies.

In1990,thegovernmentannouncEDItsintentiontoprivatizePetro-CanadaandthefirstsharesweresoldontheopenmarketinJuly1991,at$13EACh.Thegovernmentbegantoslowlyprivatizethecompany,sellingitsmajoritycontrol,butkeepinga20%stakeinthecompany.Noothershareholderisallowedtoownmorethan10%,however.AlsoforeignerscannOTControlmorethan25%ofthecompany.

Duringthefirstyear,thEVAlueofthesharesgraduallydroppedto$8asPetro-Canadasufferedahugelossof$603million,primarilybecauseofthedevaluationofsomeassets.Thenewly-privatecompanysignificantlyreducedthenuMBerofpropertiesinwhichithadadirectinterest.Itreduceditsannualoperatingcostsby$300millionanditwentfromastaffofcloseto11,000toonlyabout5,000employees.ManyoftheselaidoffemployeeswentontoworKAndstartupotheROIlcompaniesinAlbertacreatinganewgroupofCanadianproducers.

Inhis2004federalbudget,FinanCEMinisterRalphGoodalepledgedtosellthegovernment'sremainingstakeinthecompany.

Petro-CanadaisCanada’ssecond-largestdownstreamcompanywithrefiningandsupplyoperations,retailandmarketiNGNetworks,andaspecialtylubricantsbusiness.IthasaloyaltyprogramcalledPetroPointswherethecustomersgetpointsforfuel,carrepairandstorepurchases.ItteamedupwithCitibankforaPetroPointsMasterCard.Oneofthebenefitsis2centsoffalitreforfuelpurchasesandPetroPointsforallpurchasesonthecard.Petro-CanadaalsorunsACHainofcarrepairwiththeirstationscalledCertigardCarRepair.

TodayPetro-CanadaisCanada's11thlargestcompanywithimportantinterestsinsuchprojectsasHibernia,TerraNova,andWhiteRose;itsgasstationsremainapresenceinmostCanadiancities.ItownsrefineriesinEdmonton,Alberta(135,000bpd)andMontreal,Quebec(155,000bpd),aCCOuntingfor16%oftheCanadianindustry’stotalrefiningcapacity.ItslubricantsplantinMISsissauga,Ontariorefinescrudeoilfeedstocktoproducelubricatingoil-basedstocksandotherspecializedproducts.

ThecompanyhasexpandedinternationallyandISInvolvedinseveralforeignprojects,especiallyinAlgeria,theNetherlands,TunISIa,theUnitedKingdom,Syria,Italy,Libya,TrinidadandTobago,andVenezuela.TheseandalltheothersitesoutsideofNorthAmericaarerunbytheInternationalBusinessUnitofPetro-CanadawithitsheadquartersinLondonBridge,London.

In2006thecompanyenteredthemobilephonemarketwithapre-paidserviCECalledPetro-CanadaMobility.
